Thomas Hunt will represent Australia at the Oceania Melanesian Athletics Championships

Congratulations to St Pius X College Year 11 student Thomas Hunt

Congratulations to St Pius X College Year 11 student Thomas Hunt (16) from Roseville who will be representing Australia in the Under 18’s 400m hurdles at the Oceania Melanesian Athletics Championships in Vanuatu (May 9-11).

St Pius X College Principal, Mr John Couani said “The College is very proud of Thomas who is not only an excellent athlete but he is a dedicated student who gives his best in all he undertakes. We wish Thomas every success at the Oceania Championships in May”

Thomas won two Silver medals at the recent Australian Athletics Junior Championships (U18 400m hurdles, U18 4x400m relay) in March to qualify to represent Australia at the Oceania Melanesian Regional Championships in May. The Oceania Melanesian Championships are where 8 Oceania countries including Australia, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea compete. The Championship is also a qualification meet for selection in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games to be held in October in Argentina.
