Award System

Student efforts and academic successes are celebrated in a very special way twice each year at the College Academic Awards Assemblies. Students’ hard work and achievements are also acknowledged each week during College Assemblies.

There are a wide range of academic awards that students can achieve including:

  • Good Start Awards awarded to students who have made a positive start to the year across a range of courses.
  • Fide et Labore awards presented to students in Years 5 – 10
    • Gold for first place in a course
    • Silver for students in the top 5% in a course
    • Blue for significant effort leading to improvement
  • Academic Colours (Gold Silver or Blue) are presented to students in Years 7 - 12 who have been consistent academic role models, have shown leadership in their studies and achieved results at the highest level over a period of years.
  • Academic Honours First Class awarded to Year 11 and 12 students who have achieved 4 or more mentions in top 10% of any 2 Unit subject or 5% of any 1 Unit subject.
  • Academic Honours awarded to Year 11 and 12 students who have achieved 3 mentions in top 10% of any 2 Unit subject or 5% of any 1 Unit subject.
  • Academic Excellence awarded to Year 11 and 12 students who have achieved 1st place in any subject or 2 mentions in top 10% of any 2 Unit subject or 5% of any 1 Unit subject.
  • Waterford Awards are awarded twice each year to students in Years 7 - 12 to acknowledge students who have continued to strive to achieve their own personal best.
