Year 7-8 Curriculum

St Pius X College aims to foster students who are critical and creative thinkers and are resilient and passionate about learning.

The College strives to provide relevant, authentic, dynamic and creative learning experiences attentive to the needs of each person, promoting the development of the whole person. All members of the community are encouraged to work to the best of their abilities, to realise their potential and to strive for excellence in a safe, healthy and supportive environment.

Year 7

Students in Year 7 and 8 study a common curriculum experiencing a wide range of subjects as follows:

  • Religious Education;
  • English;
  • Mathematics;
  • Science;
  • Technology (Mandatory);
  • Geography;
  • History;
  • Music;
  • Drama
  • Visual Arts;
  • Personal Development Health and Physical Education (PDHPE); and
  • French or Chinese (Mandarin).

Skills and knowledge relating to the use and understanding of information and communication technologies (ICT) is incorporated into the content/skills of all syllabuses.

In Years 7 & 8 Mathematics, English, and Science there are specific classes for both higher and lower ability students.
