Assistant Principal - Mission and Identity

Commencing: 2019
Reports to: Principal

St Pius X College, Chatswood is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and highly qualified person to lead the Mission and Identity Team consisting of: Religious Education Coordinator, Social Justice Coordinator and Youth Minister.

This role gives life to the Christian Values and Catholic Identity of St Pius X College as an Edmund Rice School.

The successful applicant will be highly qualified and committed to leading the Mission and Identity of the College in the Edmund Rice tradition. Further information regarding the Charter for Edmund Rice schools in Australia is available on their website.

The successful applicant will possess leadership competencies characterised by:

  • a clear understanding of, passion for and commitment to the Mission of Catholic Education;

Qualifications

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:

  • Completed further studies in Religious Education and/or Theological Studies;
  • Have Accreditation to teach Religious Education;
  • Have the ability to teach Religious Education from Year 7 to 12.

Year Coordinator

Commencing: 2019
Reports to: Assistant Principal – Pastoral Care

St Pius X College, Chatswood is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced and highly qualified teacher to fill the role of Year Coordinator.

The Year Coordinator is responsible for the comprehensive care and effective management of the students of one cohort within the College, including overseeing student discipline, attendance, punctuality, presentation, uniform, order, stewardship of buildings and grounds, student safety and well-being in curricular and cocurricular programs and the support of the vital role of parents and caregivers.

Conditions of Employment

  • Approximately 0.8 teaching/0.2 release time;
  • Coordinator 2 allowance (currently $16,460 pa);
  • An initial two year appointment to the promotions position, and, following satisfactory performance review, further three year appointments to the promotions position;
  • Commencement date Tuesday 29 January 2019 with a number of induction days prior to commencement.

The successful applicant will:

  • Be committed to and supportive of the Mission of Catholic Schools with specific reference to the Edmund Rice ethos and tradition of the College;
  • Exhibit a high standard of competence, professionalism, organisational proficiency and enthusiasm;
  • Be an excellent teacher and be able to convey the element of the art and practice of successful teaching to colleagues;

  • Be actively involved in the College’s cocurricular program.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate innovative approaches to the teaching of English in order to engage and inspire boys in their learning.
