Learning Support Coordinator

Level: Year 5 – 12
From: Permanent Full Time from 2019

Basic Role Purpose

The Learning Support Coordinator is responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of programs of study and initiatives to support the learning needs of all students, including students with special education needs, gifted and talented students and students learning English as an additional language.


Conditions of Employment

  • approximately 0.7 teaching/0.3 release time;
  • Coordinator 2 allowance (currently $16,460 for 2019 p.a.);
  • an initial two year appointment to the promotions position, and following satisfactory performance review,
  • further three year appointments to the promotions position;
  • reporting to the Principal through the Assistant Principal – Teaching and Learning;
  • commencement date negotiable.

The successful applicant will:

  • be committed to and supportive of the Mission of Catholic Schools with specific reference to the Edmund Rice ethos and tradition of the College;
  • exhibit a high standard of competence, professionalism, organisational proficiency and enthusiasm;
  • liaise with Studies Coordinators and Class Teachers to promote and develop an inclusive learning environment;
  • be an excellent teacher and be able to convey the elements of the art and practice of successful teaching to colleagues;
  • be committed to the care and wellbeing of ‘at risk’ students;
  • have a genuine and knowledgeable empathy for students with special needs;
  • have highly developed written and verbal communication skills;
  • have strong interpersonal skills, being an active listener, a wise and experienced counsel and an empathetic and effective challenger, particularly with respect to colleagues, Studies and Guidance Coordinators and parents;
  • be committed to boys’ education and have an understanding and appreciation of the structure and climate of a boys’ school community;
  • be committed to personal religious education and spiritual formation;
  • be actively involved in the College’s cocurricular program.

Classroom Teacher

Reporting to: Head of Junior School

St Pius X College, Chatswood is seeking to appoint an energetic, contemporary and innovative practitioner to teach Stage 3 commencing the beginning of the 2019 College year (negotiable). Applicants will be suitably qualified and enjoy working in a dynamic and cohesive team.

The successful applicant will:

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding and commitment to the Mission of the Catholic School;
  • Be supportive of the Edmund Rice ethos of the College;
  • Be characterised by a high standard of competency, professionalism, organisational proficiency and enthusiasm;
  • Have an ability to relate to boys and a practical knowledge of boys’ education issues and initiatives;
