Mathematics Studies Coordinator

Level: Year 7 - 12
Hours: Permanent Full Time
Commencing: 2018
Reporting to: Assistant Principal – Teaching and Learning

St Pius X College, Chatswood is seeking to appoint an energetic Mathematics Coordinator to lead the highly successful Mathematics Department at the College. The position attracts a 2 point Coordinator allowance. The successful applicant will be suitably qualified and enjoy working in a dynamic and cohesive team. Involvement in the cocurricular life of the College (additionally remunerated) and a commitment to boys’ education are essential conditions of employment.

The successful applicant will:
• Demonstrate a clear understanding and commitment to the Mission of the Catholic School;
• Be supportive of the Edmund Rice ethos of the College;
• Provide leadership in teaching, learning, assessing and reporting;
• Teach with excellence, professionalism and commitment;
• Have an ability to relate to boys and a practical knowledge of boys education issues and initiatives;
• Effectively integrate technology in the delivery of the teaching program;

The ability to teach Extension 1 and 2 Mathematics would be advantageous.

Reporting to: Science Studies Coordinator

St Pius X College, Chatswood is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified teacher of Science who is thoroughly familiar with all NSW Science syllabus documentation, and who will be able to demonstrate innovative and inventive approaches to teaching Science in order to engage and inspire boys in their learning. The ability to teach Biology is essential. The ability to teach Re would be advantageous.

The successful applicant will:
• Demonstrate a clear understanding and commitment to the Mission of the Catholic School;
• Be supportive of the Edmund Rice ethos of the College;
• Be characterised by a high standard of competency, professionalism, organisational proficiency and enthusiasm;
• Have an ability to relate to boys and a practical knowledge of boys’ education issues and initiatives;
• Be a dynamic classroom teacher able to actively engage boys in their learning;
• Possess sound ICT skills for both teaching and learning;
• Have the ability to work collaboratively in the Science Department;
• Participate actively in the cocurricular program of the College;
